The services sector activity in Spain recorded a slight growth in June that put an end to the downtrend of the last few months, although it continues to “strongly” affected by the pandemic coronavirus, according to the index of business activity published this Friday by the consultancy Markit.

The index stood in June at 50,2 points, well above the increase of 27.9 points from may and surpassing slightly the level of 50 that marks the difference between growth and degrowth.

The growth was so “marginal” after a period of contraction, unprecedented in the services despite the lifting of restrictions linked to the confinement of the population, which has resulted in the return to work of many employees with the consequent increase of operating expenses.

The return to the activity also resulted in an increase of orders, the weak due to the impact of the epidemic on the demand, while the employment continued to the floor.
