The secret of aging: your brain is less and less used

The key to a long life could lie in a quiet and calm mind, without a lot of neural activity. These are the conclusions of researchers from Harvard university, in a study published in the journal Nature .

They examined the brain tissue of deceased people, which is a very long time and were alive and well, and looking for differences in the tissues of people who have in the past lost their lives. These differences, however, they found: those who previously died had significantly lower levels of the protein in the Rest of the brain. From a previous study, we showed that the Rest of it is protective against Alzheimer’s disease. The researchers found that the Remainder can be determined by one’s brain more active.

The results of this study speak to the general, conventional belief that the brain must be active in order to be clear stay on later in life.
