The Favorite Monument of the French 2022: the list of the 14 buildings in competition

Who will take over from Place Stanislas in Nancy? This Wednesday, September 14, is broadcast The Favorite Monument of the French 2022 on France 3. Hosted by Stéphane Bern, the program offers viewers the opportunity to discover each year the most beautiful sites in France and overseas.

In this new edition launched last July, 14 buildings and buildings were submitted to viewers’ votes. Each of them representing a region of France, you will find among the named: the rock and chapel of Saint-Michel d’Aiguilhe (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes), the abbey of Fontenay (Bourgogne-Franche-Comté), the chapel of the Maison Saint-Yves (Brittany), the castle of Azay-le-Rideau (Centre-Val de Loire), the prehistoric site of Filitosa (Corsica), the Fort of Schoenenbourg (Great East) or the Zévallos dwelling (in Guadeloupe for Overseas).

In addition, you will also discover the beauty of the historic mining center of Lewarde (Hauts-de France), the castle of Vaux-le-Vicomte (Ile-de-France), the transatlantic ferry terminal of Cherbourg and the Le Redoutable submarine. (Normandy), the transporter bridge of Rochefort (New Aquitaine), the Saint-Martin-du-Canigou abbey (Occitanie), the Robert Tatin museum (Pays de la Loire) and the synagogue of Carpentras (Provence-Alpes-Côte d ‘Azure).

As with every edition during this back-to-school period, it is also an opportunity for the French to be able to admire the beauty of the landscapes which make the wealth of the country. Enough to give a spotlight to cities in the tourism sector. “We are seeing increases in attendance and tourist development,” noted host Stéphane Bern in 2021 for Télé 7 Jours. “Besides, the program is broadcast a few days before the European Heritage Days weekend, and I hope it will give viewers some ideas”.

Before knowing the verdict of this 2022 edition, announced this evening by the ambassador of French heritage from the Cluny museum in Paris, focus in images on the 14 finalist monuments in our slideshow.
