Ten days of macrocumbre business have given so much. A multitude of ideas and requests to Government that have been reflected today in a decalogue joint release today by Antonio Garamendi , president of the CEOE, and Pablo Isla , president of Inditex. An event that has served the companies to get muscle and send a message to the Executive that have them to get out of the crisis.

Garamendi has begun emphasizing that the goal of the companies is always to “achieve the common good,” and “putting people at the centre”. To then proceed with an argument in favour of the EU: “we Need more Europe and take advantage of the financial support that provides for splitting the EU, channeling it through projects solvents” . Island has been given the task of giving voice to the quoted decalogue, making also emphasis on the need to bet more in Europe, the budgetary rigour and structural reforms that have come.

the Island has highlighted the need to extend the ERTE and extend the government guarantees in the sectors that need it to save to the enterprises and employment

The president of Inditex has presented one by one the petitions of the decalogue. The first, to have a vision for the medium and long term, to be able to “carry out investment necessary to make Spain a country more competitive and sustainable,” , in addition to promote the energy transition.

The second key on the that affect businesses is the trust, through the legal certainty . “It is key to build credibility, and attract and retain investment. It is through the investment as it is able to generate employment,” said Island. Closely related to this idea have been three other in which it has been called the “consensus and the social dialogue” to tackle the crisis arising out of the pandemic, and to preserve the productive fabric and to establish a regulatory framework more flexible to remove bureaucratic obstacles to business activity. All this without forgetting to force to extend the ERTE and the avalaes public sectors that need to protect the business fabric and employment.

An important chapter of the decalogue, as in all the summit is dedicated to the “stability budget” . The companies, by the mouth of Island, you are aware that you must increase the public expenditure in the short term, but that is not inconsistent with the “return to the path of fiscal stability in the medium-long term.” And have released, as usual, the dart to the Government at the expense of the tax: “we must promote economic growth and avoid increases tax in the economic crisis”.

companies are calling on the Government to avoid tax increases in times of economic crisis like the current

Also, companies claiming “public-private partnership” to improve the quality and efficiency of the provision of public services; to promote the re-industrialisation, with the aim that this branch reaches a weight of 20% of the GDP; the promotion of innovation and digitization, especially in smes and in the Management; and equality of opportunity and inclusive growth, using the training to not leave anyone behind in this reconstruction of Spain.

This summit, in sum, has served the CEOE and its partners to draw muscle to the society and, particularly, in front of the Executive . A sign that they are there to support in the recovery, but not with a blank check. Reject more taxes and rigidities in the labour market at the time that require legal certainty and confidence to recover, “the country that we know of”, as has been said Garamendi.
