A dress that’s too small, a sweater that you don’t wear anymore, a pair of shoes that you’ve only worn once… Your closet is full of things that you don’t wear. To purify your interior a little, but also and above all to make some money, the sites of sale between individuals are beneficial.

One of the best known is Vinted, an online marketplace that lets you sell, buy, give away, and trade new or used pieces. The perfect compromise to give a second life to your old things, which will undoubtedly make someone else happy!

Only here: being a seller on Vinted is not always a cakewalk. You have to take the time to photograph all your clothes, take care of the ads, negotiate with buyers, pack the package and send it. A long work that discourages more than one! Marie, 26, was quickly discouraged during her first experience on peer-to-peer sales sites. “All these efforts to sell a t-shirt for one or two euros… I prefer to keep it!”, tells us the young woman, an editor by profession.

If she abandoned the Vinted application at first, Marie finally redoubled her efforts, and managed to sell the majority of the items she wanted to sell. To do this, she developed a real sales strategy, from taking photos to evaluating the transaction. For Planet, she reveals her best tips for selling on Vinted.

It all starts, of course, with the choice of clothes that you are going to put on sale. Be brave, but not reckless: “Heavily worn, stained clothes will not sell. And this, even if you sell them off, and you clearly indicate their defects on the description. the heart tells you: by publishing them on your profile, you will give yourself a bad image and waste time”, explains Marie.

Of course, you can sell slightly used, faded clothes… But staying reasonable is the key. The question is: would you buy this item, instead of the other vinties? If the answer is “probably not”, move on. Note that some items are not accepted for sale, according to the platform’s terms of use. Once your items have been put aside, you have to take a picture of them… Here’s how to proceed to ensure maximum sales.

“There’s no secret: a great ad starts with great photos. If your clothes don’t catch the eye, there’s a good chance that your potential buyers will choose another ad… “, explains Mary. Thus, the editor recommends posting bright photos, where you are wearing the garment you want to sell. Take several poses, showing the front and back of the item, preferably against a neutral background. Don’t forget to show any imperfections.

Once your photos have been taken, all you have to do is take care of your ad. Time of publication, keywords… Here are some tips for making the perfect announcement, according to Marie.

Once your articles have been selected and photographed, they must be published. First, Marie recommends publishing your ads on weekends: “Be patient, and publish your ads on Saturday or Sunday, from noon. It is during these time slots that the site is most consulted. You You can also publish them on Tuesday or Thursday evenings”.

It is also necessary to describe the article well in the description, by adding a maximum of keywords with the hashtag. You can specify the

“The goal is to reference your ad as much as possible to attract the greatest number of people. You can also specify the measurements of each garment: it’s a long job, but the vinties will appreciate this effort and won’t waste your time if the measurements do not correspond to them. It’s the same thing with your profile: write in your biography your delivery times, the sizes you sell, specify whether you do hand-delivery or not…”, explains Marie.

Negotiation, evaluation… How to close a sale perfectly?

“Above all, do not harass the vinties who like your articles by immediately offering them a reduction of one, two, three euros… Or even more”, warns Marie. “Personally, I let it happen and, every Sunday, I lower the price of my most liked items by one or two euros. That way, the vinties who have placed my clothes in their favorites receive a notification”, explains the twenty-something. .

If a potential buyer negotiates the price of one of your clothes, it’s up to you to determine whether the price offered suits you or not.

“One last thing: leaving reviews is essential. Do not hesitate to remind your buyers if they forget to review the transaction, and take good care of your packages: you will see the difference very quickly!”, concludes Marie.
