TESTIMONY. My retirement tips for going on vacation without breaking the bank

Who said you had to choose between saving and discovering the world? Alain, 68, decided to take advantage of his retirement to travel. Until then, the sexagenarian had never left France, and did not think he could do so while continuing to put money aside… Until the day when he began to do research to find flights, hotels and activities at low prices.

Little by little, Alain is becoming a real expert in the field and now plans his stays to the nearest millimeter without breaking the bank. For Planet, he confides his tips and tricks to enjoy his retirement at a lower cost. Check out five in our slideshow below!

Of course, there are also financial aids to enable seniors to go on vacation. The site All about my finances lists a few, such as holiday vouchers which help even the most precarious retirees to leave. The program concerns retirees aged 60 and over, or 55 for those with disabilities, who reside in France and do not pay income tax. “Married spouses or PACS partners can participate in the program under certain conditions”, specifies the financial news magazine.

Also consult your pension fund, your supplementary pension fund, or your town hall to find out if you are eligible for an additional scheme. Finally, you can pay less for the trip thanks to the SNCF annual leave ticket, the SNCF Avantage card or the Air France Senior card. It’s your turn !
