For Planet, the now 23-year-old woman shares her harrowing account of the day she witnessed a murder. “I was 12 or 13 when it happened. It was very close to my home, in the Paris region, I was walking with my mother who wanted to show me the college where I was going to go back to school,” says- she. A very ordinary day for a young girl, in short.

Suddenly, the mother and her daughter are surprised by a detonation, a noise that Léna then identifies as “a firecracker, fireworks”. “My mother, astonished, did not understand where it could come from: it was not July 14 and it was broad daylight, but we continued to walk along the avenue,” he explains. -she.

“There, we see a man running towards us at full speed, he advances, overtakes us and rushes into his car… And a few meters later, still on the avenue, we see a man lying on the ground”, remembers Lena. At this moment, the family understands that they did not hear a firecracker or fireworks, but the detonation of a firearm.

“We recognized him straight away, he was someone we knew because in our neighborhood everyone knew each other. It was horrible, I still have the image in my head and, really, I don’t wish it on anyone,” says Léna. “Quickly, we realized that the man who had rushed towards us a few minutes earlier was the killer,” she continues.

From the height of her 12 or 13 years, Léna has been questioned several times by the police, and keeps the aftermath of this horror vision. “Today, I get scared when someone runs quickly towards me and freak out for a minute when I hear firecrackers, before realizing they’re just firecrackers,” she explains. .
