Telephone has signed an alliance with the Italian Dedalus , the first european operator in systems of hospital diagnosis, to boost the d igitalización of the services of pathological anatomy (the so-called “Digital Pathology”) and, in this way, to advance in the digitalization of the processes of diagnosis in hospitals and other health organizations. In particular, with this project, it is intended not only to shorten the times, but to make more accurate diagnoses to introduce the Artificial Intelligence (AI). Public hospitals andalusia of Puerta del Mar and the Hospital Comarcal La linea de La Concepcion are involved in two pilot tests.

According to estimates by both companies, the digitization of services related to the pathological (biopsies, cytology, autopsies…) could mean savings of 70 million euros a year (10 million at the regional level) to avoid treatment, or unnecessary hospitalizations.

But, how would it work? Sources from both companies, have been put as an example what happens with a biopsy: I was able to generate three cuts of a half and three slides to scan, a few 45 gb , for each sample. What can be multiplied, if on average, serve between 50 and 100 cases. A challenge to store and transmit such data.

Dedalus and Telefónica join forces to offer a joint solution based on the web technology zero footprint with a viewer diagnostic multi-disciplinary and allows you, among other things, the collection of samples in the laboratory, its digitaliación with your diagnosis and your storage to two levels of access for at least four years. In addition to having the support of the artificial intelligence for the adoption of the diagnosis and prescription of treatment.

that Is to say, the software of Dedalus that allows the digital transformation of the laboratories in a sustainable manner adds to the technology of the telco Spanish to allow all of these digitized samples are stored properly and are able to access this information from any terminal connected to the system, regardless of the geographical location.

Both companies have pointed out that, in this way, shorten the time of diagnosis and the quality of the same, as well as opens the door to population-based studies on certain diseases due to the storage tissues during more time.

In a statement, the CEO of Tenant Spain, María Jesús Almazor has been pointed out that the project aims that “the technology facilitates the sharing of information and diagnosis of patients between different physicians and between their own sick”. For his part, the director-general of Dedalus Spains Ricardo Mazón has been added that the goal of this proposal is “to facilitate the digitization of this specialty clinic, essential to improving our diagnoses and the advancement of medicine”.
