Taxes: when will you be reimbursed this year?

You thought you were done with taxes? Unfortunately, that’s not quite the case. Fortunately, the news that awaits you now is known… and, for the most part, it is rather good. Some, of course, will soon face the need to pay the tax authorities the sums that were due and have not yet been paid. But the reimbursement of their shortfall will not occur for several months, as Planet has already had the opportunity to explain. As for the others, the luckiest, they will soon be entitled to a transfer or a check.

Indeed, in August, there are three different types of taxpayers, if not four. Those who have not fulfilled their civic duty, and must therefore talk to the tax authorities about this, those who have paid just enough tax and are therefore freed from the question of tax on income for the coming months, those who didn’t pay enough… and finally those who overpaid. If you belong to the last category, know that you will soon be entitled to the reimbursement that is due to you. But when ?

First of all, remember that two types of situations justify, according to Bercy, a potential refund. As Capital explains, these are the following scenarios:

More than a few days to wait for the luckiest, continues Capital. The refund of the overpayment by the tax authorities should indeed operate in the coming week, has informed the General Directorate of Public Finances (DGFiP). Most of the taxpayers concerned will therefore be entitled to a bank transfer between July 21 and August 2, 2022.

“This transfer will bear the wording ‘REMB TAX REVENUS’ on your bank statement and will be indicated as coming from ‘DGFIP FINANCES PUBLIQUES'”, Bercy also specified.

One question remains, however: what happens when the taxpayer concerned has not thought to fill in his bank details. Should we sit on the promised money? Not necessarily accurate Capital. On the contrary. In this specific case, the tax authorities then send a check to the French men and women concerned. This will be sent by post during the summer.

That being said, to avoid any risk of loss in the future, it may be appropriate to update your bank details on the tax site.
