Depending on your place of residence, you have more or less one month to declare your income to the General Directorate of Public Finances (DGFiP). It was possible to fill it in by hand when making the request or to opt for the automatic declaration already pre-filled. However, the latter poses a problem.

On May 4, 2023, Ouest-France revealed the presence of errors in the automatic declaration of certain French people. Thus, a high school teacher testified to these faults which slipped two years in a row into this file. Discover in our slideshow below the essential points to check in this pre-filled declaration.

The teacher discovered a typo in the overtime box. Indeed, previously tax-exempted up to 5,000 euros, the State had increased this ceiling to 7,500 euros last year. Yet that is not what was stated on his statement. But it is not the only one to have found errors on its form.

Questioned by the regional daily, the DGFiP declared that this problem concerned “State agents, all ministries combined, who benefited in 2022 from the payment of overtime”. This is a misconduct involving thousands of public servants. Thus, “an individual communication is carried out from this day to the attention of the agents concerned”, concludes the direction of public finances.

Another error was also reported by the DGFiP. It concerns installments paid in November 2022 which would not have been added to taxable income. Discover in our slideshow the 6 elements to check absolutely in your automatic declaration.
