(Toronto) Summer McIntosh broke a junior world record and a Canadian record when she won the women’s 200-metre butterfly at the Canadian Swimming Trials on Friday.
The Toronto swimmer stopped the clock at 2:04.70. His previous record was 2:05.05.
“Overall, I’m very happy with my time,” she said. I definitely need to polish my turns and I probably need to watch my intervals. But everything is fine. I’m still learning how to deal with going to more events. »
McIntosh’s performance only adds to what she has already accomplished at the Canadian Trials.
The 16-year-old set a world record in the 400-metre freestyle on Tuesday when she swam the distance in 3:56.08.
McIntosh followed that performance by posting the fourth-fastest time in history in the individual 200-meter medley on Thursday.
At the same time, she lowered her previous world junior record and her national record by posting a time of 2:06.89.
McIntosh said, however, that she sees all these races as an opportunity to continue her progress.
“I try to look at every competition, every day and every training session as a step forward to keep getting better and better. There’s always so much to learn,” she explained.
