Supermarkets: new departments at E.Leclerc and Monoprix

“At this price, we have everything to gain by switching to bulk.” Here is the catchphrase put forward by the E.Leclerc brand, to attract consumers to its new section, dedicated to bulk. This new 100% MDD concept was introduced to satisfy consumers, who are increasingly eager to limit waste and packaging, reports Linéaires, this Tuesday, May 24.

This idea is added to another, since the distributor also set up an anti-inflation shield at the beginning of May on 121 products deemed to be essential and among the most purchased “between October 2021 and March 2022”. This is to offset the constant rise in the price index and help consumers maintain their purchasing power. Thus, if the price of these products increases, the increase will be compensated by a voucher credited to the consumer’s loyalty card, when he goes to the checkout. The measure is valid until July 31 in the majority of Leclerc supermarkets and in drive.

If, according to Le Parisien, which tested the formula in several drives and stores in France for two years, the result is rather mixed (basket not quite healthy and balanced and savings still minimal), the new bulk department should attract consumers.

The department, recognizable via a specific dressing – furniture in the colors of the new concept blue, black and wood – will contain 75 bulk MDD references of conventional groceries, maintenance, as well as organic.

So what are the conventional grocery categories that are already (or will be) offered? Check them out in the slideshow below.

Monoprix, for its part, is motivated to transform its stores into real living spaces. To do this, the brand has launched in nine of its brands a new section called “Grandchildren Generation”. In the columns of Libre Service Actualités (LSA), the brand’s transformation and innovation director declares: “Today we are taking a new step by addressing the 20 million seniors in France who wish to maintain a daily bond with their little ones. -children”. You will find card games, toys, newspapers, supposed to create a link between the two generations. Here are the stores that will be affected first by the installation:
