“Collectively return to a logic of sobriety”. This is Emmanuel Macron’s new mantra, according to his July 14 interview during which he explained that the state was putting in place an energy sobriety plan to overcome any shortages linked to the Russian-Ukrainian war.

As Le Parisien, a press release dated Monday, July 18, 2022, points out, the largest French retail chains summarize various measures to be taken to limit the energy consumption of their points of sale. Lighting, temperatures, nighttime activity… What exactly does this new plan contain? We take stock of the elements to remember in our slideshow below.

At the origin of this sobriety plan, the Perifem federation, which represents “70% of the Top 50 physical distribution brands (food and specialized trade) and the 4 leaders of shopping centers, 200 billion euros in turnover ‘business, 25,000 stores, 400 shopping centers, 70 million m² of retail space’, according to its website.

In order to act on energy and environmental issues, but also “given the risk of electricity supply shortages announced by the government for this winter”, joint measures will be taken in the largest French supermarkets. The brands E.Leclerc, Carrefour, Intermarché, Auchan, Système U, Casino, Lidl, Franprix, Monoprix and Picard are particularly concerned.
