This week, we are witnessing a slight thaw compared to the relative cold that has settled across France since January 16. Indeed, the current temperatures have reached or even narrowly exceeded the average temperatures for the season, as reported by La Chaîne Météo.Saturday will see a powerful anticyclone settle over the metropolitan territory. It will be synonymous with calm and dry weather for this start of the weekend.

Sunshine will however be delayed, due to low clouds and fog which will not be lacking either, especially over the northern and eastern plains. The anticyclone in question will first hover above the Breton lands and will be characterized by particularly strong atmospheric pressure.

Sunday will mark a clear turning point in weather patterns. Indeed, a mass of cold air should reach us from Germany, bringing with it showers, especially snowy in some departments. Morning frosts are also to be expected, even though temperatures should remain around seasonal averages, although a little colder than at present.

Maximum temperatures will not exceed 5°C to 7°C on Sunday, before potentially falling even further at the start of next week. Snowfall is mainly expected on the eastern flank of the country and should start on Sunday evening.
