An advertisement for the restaurant that has just opened around the corner, a flyer offering you discounts on a gym membership… In your mailbox, unwanted papers are piling up and you don’t know more what to do with it?

It’s simple: since January 1, 2021, all companies are required to respect your refusal to receive advertisements in your mailbox, according to article L 541-15-15 of the Environmental Code. Offenders are liable to a fine of 1500 euros, increased to 7500 euros if the advertisement comes from a company.

But how do you express your refusal to receive flyers in your mailbox? You just have to indicate it on it, with a Stop Pub sticker, for example. This free device was published by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, and you can find it at the town hall or on the ministry’s website.

With this simple label, you can say goodbye to commercial solicitations. Don’t worry: a note that you pasted on your mailbox yourself will work just fine, too.

Be careful though: this only concerns anonymous advertising flyers. Those that are addressed to you personally are not affected by the Stop Advertising sticker: to put an end to it, all you have to do is contact the company concerned and tell them that you no longer wish to receive advertising.
