Steve Burton was fired from the ‘General Hospital’ because he refused to receive COVID-19 vaccination.

Burton posted a video to his Instagram, saying that “I wanted to hear it personally.”

Steve Burton, a veteran actor in “General Hospital”, announced Tuesday that he was fired from the ABC soap opera because he failed to get vaccinated against CoviD-19.

Burton, who played Jason Morgan for more than 2,200 episodes over the past 30 years was still listed on “General Hospital” on Tuesday.

Rumours of his death were circulating for weeks around Port Charles.

Burton posted a video to his Instagram, saying that “I wanted to hear it personally.” “Unfortunately, General Hospital has allowed me to go due to the vaccine mandate. Both my religious and medical exemptions were denied. This, as you can see, is very hurtful. This is about my personal freedom. This is not something that should cause anyone to lose their livelihood.

Actor at 51, he thanked his fans and “General Hospital” cast members.

He said, “I’ll never forget my time at General Hospital,” It’s a wonderful place. There is where I grew up. Some of you were my classmates growing up.”

Burton is the right-hand man to Sonny Corinthos (played by Maurice Benard). Morgan’s most recent arc saw the character trapped in a cave, presumed dead or missing.

Burton did not close the door on General Hospital.

“Maybe, if these mandates can be lifted, I will be able to return and complete my career as Jason Morgan.” It would be an honor,” the actor stated. “And if it’s not, I’m going take this amazing experience and move on. And be forever grateful.”

NBC News confirmed Tuesday that Burton had been fired for not following a vaccine mandate. His last shoot was Oct. 27.
