Objects of covetousness by collectors, stamps are much more than simple pieces of paper. Everyone has already stuck one on an envelope. However, in recent years, the number of mailings has been falling ever further. This tradition seems to be being lost in favor of new technologies that offer much faster and more efficient means of communication.

Faced with this, La Poste recently announced the implementation of a new system which should make it easier and faster to send letters. The objective is that the inhabitants of France, country of literature and poetry, reclaim their pen and give more preference to handwritten letters.

This novelty is the digital stamp. This should allow you to buy a stamp directly on your smartphone or computer to be able to send your mail without having to queue at a post office.

Operation is simple. Just go directly to the La Poste site or application and then click on “Buy a digital stamp”, reports TF1. Then, a code is provided and you just have to affix it to the envelope. Once that’s done, all you have to do is send it. This system should be launched in early 2023, if it is validated by Arcep (Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications, Posts and Press Distribution).

This new technique should appeal to a large part of the French with its simplicity. If you are reluctant to face the end of paper stamps, rest assured: the cessation of their circulation is not currently planned.
