Spam: 5 email objects that should not be opened

In the professional or private sphere, email is an essential tool, which facilitates our exchanges and our procedures. However, it can turn out to be a vast scam method, where all scams are possible. While reports of fraudulent emails are increasing, you must therefore be extra vigilant if the subject of an email gives you a clue.

From the subject of the email, you must learn to differentiate a traditional email from an unwanted one. Usually reserved for a dedicated box, spam is increasingly present in the heart of our reception areas.

In this context, the influx of promotional newsletters has led to the development of commercial prospecting, but also to phishing threats, which are increasing day by day. The use of several specific terms in the subject of the email is therefore characteristic of spam and must be notified to prevent fraud.

In this list, you can find the words “free”, “offer”, “promo”, “100%”, “50%”, “winner”, “win” or even “click here”. In general, an unknown sender, spelling errors in the subject of the email or a repetition of the same words should alert you. Other frequently used fraudulent email subject lines:

If you manage to identify spam from the subject of the email, we advise you to place it directly in your trash. In case you have already opened your email, nothing serious! Just delete the message and don’t click on any external links in the body text. Of course, never communicate your personal details to a third party and do not enter any banking information to make any payment.

You can also report the email received. The Signal Spam platform, composed by cybersecurity experts, carries out actions against cybercriminals at the national level. All you have to do is register on the website and send the source code of the phishing email. You can report the email to your messaging operator, but also notify any company whose identity has been usurped.
