A reminder is enough for each day. Listeria monocytogenes, E. Coli bacteria, foreign bodies… There are many reasons that lead a professional to withdraw a product from the shelf. Since April 1, 2021, the Rappel Conso site, linked to the Ministry of the Economy, lists all products unfit for consumption.

This initiative makes it possible to provide citizens with a clear and legible list of recalls of products for the general public, food or non-food. “Recalls of medicines and medical devices will continue to be declared to the National Medicines Safety Agency (ANSM) within the framework of existing procedures”, specifies the official website of the Loire-Atlantique prefecture.

On Monday April 17, 223, an unbranded smoked salmon joined the long list of products being recalled from stores. This product was marketed from March 24 to April 7, 2023 at the Super U in Longué-Jumelles (Maine-et-Loire). Here is the reference to know:

The reason for the recall? Too high of histamine, a chemical compound derived from the amino acid histidine. People who bought the said smoked salmon are therefore invited to stop consuming it, and to return it to the point of sale before Friday, April 21, 2023 in order to obtain a refund.

“Histamine food poisonings appear within ½ hour to a few hours after consumption of the dish responsible and consist of an acute allergy”, specifies Rappel Conso. If you have eaten the potentially contaminated fish, watch for symptoms such as flushing, headache, facial swelling, feeling hot and unwell, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.

“People with an allergic background are particularly concerned because they may also have acute respiratory problems: they must absolutely refrain from consuming the foodstuffs mentioned and, in the event of the appearance of such symptoms, consult the emergency department without delay” , alerts the site.
