(Garmisch-Partenkirchen) Canadian Abigail Strate won bronze on Saturday during a stage of the Women’s Ski Jumping World Cup.

The 22-year-old Albertan earned a score of 247.4 points for her two jumps over distances of 131.0 and 130.5 meters on the large hill.

“I’m a little bit shocked,” Strate said. I don’t realize it yet, but it’s a great way to end 2023 and gain confidence for the new year. »

Slovenia’s Nika Prevc won gold with a score of 267.4 and Norway’s Eirin Maria Kvandal took silver with a score of 264.5.

“I took Christmas off and I knew my jumps were better this week,” Strate said. I felt good in training this morning, but I didn’t expect to get on the podium. »

Her compatriots Alexandria Loutitt and Nicole Maurer finished in 16th and 29th positions respectively.
