Mustard, sunflower oil, bottled water… Many everyday products have been missing in recent weeks. Each shortage has a different explanation: the war in Ukraine, the drought, the bad harvest or even the heat wave.

At the supermarket, other stockouts threaten consumers, according to the Nielsen IQ institute, whose researcher Myriam Qadi was interviewed in the columns of the magazine 60 million consumers.

Today, new products are under high tension. “Starches, semolina, pasta, flour and rice continue to decrease in terms of availability (…) without being at a critical level in terms of stock”.

In addition, the specialist recalls that the availability of certain products is affected by the increase in packaging prices, such as “citrus concentrates or chilled drinks”.

It is however necessary to be attentive to the risks of partial shortage at certain well-defined times of the week… How to avoid them?

Does your supermarket regularly get robbed? Don’t panic: to find your favorite products on the shelves, you have to strategically choose the day you go shopping.

Myriam Qadi advises consumers in particular to favor shopping on Monday or Tuesday, the date of replenishment.

“But on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, we are in a total rupture pattern in store”, explains the NielsenIQ research manager.
