The race for fuel. For several days, France has been facing a shortage of gasoline on the territory and motorists are struggling to fill the tank of their vehicle. Long queues, conflicts between users, diminished reserves… Tension is at its height near service stations.

Especially since the strikes shaking the factories of TotalEnergies have weakened the resupply of gas stations in certain regions. A situation that does not help many French people who intend to use their vehicle, this weekend of October 8 and 9, 2022, in their travels. “A social movement is currently underway in three refineries and also affects two depots”, recalled the Minister for Ecological Transition Agnès Pannier-Runacher.

Present this Friday, October 7 from the prefecture of Arras in Hauts-de-France, the minister explained that the social movement complicated the delivery of fuel to several service stations. If the strike affects only a small number, “more than 80% of the service stations in the territory are operating normally”, she assured on BFM TV. However, there are still tensions in departments such as Pas-de-Calais “where 52% of service stations were in difficulty yesterday, and 42% today” and the North “where 47% of service stations were in trouble yesterday”.

To cope with the shortage, the government has put in place measures to facilitate the daily life of the French. “We have released strategic stocks to relieve service stations,” assured Agnès Pannier-Runnacher, referring further. “The depots that work will remain open this weekend”, according to his comments relayed by Ouest-France.
