Inflation is also affecting school supplies as the start of the 2022 school year approaches. As of June, the Federation of parent-teacher councils (FCPE) had noted an increase of 18% in the price of notebooks, 20% in the price of sheets and 38% on certain highlighters, reports Capital.

Some parents can count on the Back to School Allowance (ARS) to finance part of their expenses. Paid at each start of the school year under certain conditions, this aid was increased by 4% by the State this year. Its amount will be 392.05 euros for a child aged 6 to 10, 413.69 euros for a child aged 11 to 14 and 428.02 euros for a child aged 15 to 18. To obtain it, parents must not exceed a certain ceiling of resources. The latter varies according to the number of dependent children attending school.

It will be paid in two instalments this year. Parents will first receive on Tuesday August 16 the amount of the ARS without revaluation. In Mayotte and Reunion, this payment has already taken place. Then, at the beginning of September, the parents will receive the revaluation of 4% during the monthly payment of other benefits, such as the exceptional back-to-school food aid of 100 euros per household, which was voted on August 6 by Parliament.
