San Diego Padres celebrity shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. Has been set on the 10-day injured record but won’t require surgery after the most recent injury to his troublesome left shoulder,” general director A.J. Preller said Tuesday.
The Padres on Monday stated Tatis had suffered a shoulder subluxation, and it is a partial dislocation of the joint.
Preller said Tuesday that additional tests showed a small labrum tear consistent with a subluxation.
The Padres expect Tatis can return as fast as 10 days. Preller said the shortstop has complete array of movement and that he wished to be in the lineup Tuesday.
“Generally , I think that it’s just being secure, providing the shoulder inflammation and a number of the instability [a] chance to calm down,” Preller explained.
Padres director Jayce Tingler told reporters following the Giants game that Tatis had undergone slight dislocations before but said Monday’s episode was the most pain he’d ever observed Tatis in. Tingler also stated the nagging shoulder difficulty could have been bothering Tatis”over we understood.”
Tatis crumpled to the floor in pain after swinging and missing a 2-2 pitch from San Francisco’s Anthony DeSclafani from the next inning, leaving Petco Park in quiet. He walked off the area with help from Tingler along with a coach, cradling his left arm against his torso.
Tatis also left a match late in spring practice with shoulder discomfort after building a backhand play returned two weeks later. Tingler stated then Tatis was coping with shoulder distress since his minor league days. Tatis afterwards said he had had it because rookie ball.
Tatis, 22, fought throughout the first five games of the season, batting only .167 and committing five mistakes, although he struck a 465-foot house run Sunday at a reduction to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
In case Tatis is sidelined for an elongated duration, Tingler stated San Diego’s”first choice” in shortstop will be rookie Ha-Seong Kim, that substituted Tatis on Monday.
