Roland Garros | Kenin eliminated in first qualifying round

(Paris) The French Margaux Rouvroy, 278th in the world and beneficiary of an invitation for the Roland-Garros qualifying table, beat the 2020 finalist Sofia Kenin (120th) 6-4, 6-3 on Monday.

At 22, Rouvroy is playing in qualifying for a Grand Slam tournament for the first time. She will face Belarusian Iryna Shymanovich (211th) in the second qualifying round.

For her part, Kenin had surprised the world of tennis by winning the Australian Open in 2020 and then made it to the final of the French Open, moved that year from spring to fall due to COVID-19.
