Reversion pension: how much can you receive according to the pension plans?

The survivor’s pension corresponds to a part of the pension that the deceased received. It is paid to the surviving spouse (and/or ex-spouse), and to the children under certain conditions. All pension plans are concerned but the amount of the pension varies from one fund to another, recalls the site la-retraite-en-clair.fr.

In the basic schemes dedicated to private sector employees, the liberal professions, craftsmen, traders, industrialists, and agricultural employees and non-employees, survivors are only granted from the age of 55. The “survivor’s” income must be less than €21,985.60 if living alone and €35,176.96 if living as a couple. Remarriage does not put an end to reversion.

In the private sector, the survivor’s pension amounts to 54% of the rights that the deceased spouse received or that he could have received, and this “without taking into account pension increases” specifies the site Service-public.fr.

If the deceased was a civil servant, it amounts to 50% of his retirement pension. The civil service scheme establishes another condition: to have been married for at least 4 years, or 2 years before the retirement of the deceased, or to have had children with the deceased. But there are no age or resource requirements.

The rules change to receive the survivor’s pension from the supplementary pension. In the private sector, the amount of the survivor’s pension reaches 60% of the pension. It may be increased in the case of dependent children, born or brought up. But be careful: remarriage of the survivor puts an end to the reversion.

If the deceased depended on the MSA, the supplementary scheme for self-employed farmers, the reversion is set at 54%. To receive it, the survivor must have been married for at least two years to the deceased. Regarding the reversion in the supplementary scheme for the liberal professions, it varies according to the professions, but is between 50 and 60%.

Survivorship for the supplementary civil service scheme amounts to 50% of the pension that the deceased would have received. Finally, the reversion for Ircantec, the supplementary scheme for non-holders of the public service, it is also established at 50% of the pension of the deceased.
