Revaluation of pensions: did you receive the right amount?

It was a promise he had to keep. As he once again solicited the confidence of the French men and women, in the middle of the presidential election and with the approach of a second round opposing him to Marine Le Pen, Emmanuel Macron undertook to revalue the retirement pensions in line with inflation. This, it is clear, eats away at the purchasing power of consumers day after day and is generally harder on retirees, who have limited means to increase their remuneration.

Aware of this reality, the campaigning president therefore made a commitment and, following the election he won, began to prepare his application. It is the Purchasing Power law, published on August 17, 2022, which enacts that pensions will effectively be increased by 4% from September 9, the day of writing this article. Because the increase is retroactive; this means that the insured will receive two months of increases at once: one for that of July, normally paid in August, and another for that of August, paid in September.

On average, as the economist Philippe Crevel recently explained in our columns, you have to reckon with 50 euros more per month. For the two months, the increase should therefore be around 100 euros. Proportionally, continues the specialist, it is the executives who are the least advantaged, since the revaluation only concerns pensions from the general scheme and the bulk of their retirement comes from the supplementary pension.

Several elements make it possible to identify whether the amount received this Friday, September 9, 2022 is the right one, informs Capital on its site. First of all, it is important to remember that the pension is made up of two distinct pensions: the basic pension, from the general scheme, and the so-called supplementary pension, paid by Agirc-Arrco, Ircantec or any other dedicated fund. . Only the first benefits from the 4% increase, it is therefore necessary to rely on the amount received from the basic scheme to carry out its calculation.

Note also that the revaluation is calculated on the gross amount, to which then apply the various social security contributions as well as the payment of tax at source. Finally, we must keep in mind the retroactive dimension of the payment of this Friday, September 9. Once all these elements are well understood, it is possible to do the calculation. But what if, by chance, there was a mistake?

As the economist Philippe Crevel explains in our columns, it is up to the pension fund on which the insured concerned depends that it is up to calculate the amount of the revaluation, then to pay it. Therefore, it is also with her that we must turn in case of concern.

“Generally, it is the Cnav, but it can also be the state pension service or the craftsmen’s fund, for example. It is with them that it will be necessary to turn in the event of a problem”, he explained.
