Retrieved thirteen roman amphorae from the first century that formed a frozen tent in Santa Pola

The Guardia Civil, with the collaboration of the Conselleria of Education, Culture and Sports of the Generalitat Valenciana, has recovered to 13 roman amphorae possibly of the century-I , as well as an anchor metal of the XVIII century, a store of frozen fish products of Santa Pola (Alicante).

The agents of the SEPRONA of the Civil Guard began the research after carrying out a routine inspection in an establishment of storage and marketing of frozen fish products in Alicante. The agents observed several amphorae of ceramic in different points of the facilities, an anchor metal and a plate of limestone with an inscription , at first glance, could be atleast considerable.

The Guardia Civil investigates now the owner of the establishment and to your child as alleged perpetrators of a crime against the historical heritage and the other one against the patrimony and the socioeconomic order.

The SEPRONA is put in contact with the Generalitat and, in a first viewing of the images provided by the agents, it was determined that it could be of roman amphorae from the first century, of great historical value and, in particular, one of them, could have a significant importance, due to its exclusivity.

After this first assessment, the objects were moved to the Museum of the Sea of Santa Pola , for its storage and authentication. There it proceeded to conduct a recognition of the more comprehensive pieces bugged determining, in a preliminary way, by different experts in the field, dealing a total of 13 roman amphorae pottery, possibly of the first century, which are in different states of conservation, in addition to an anchor metal is expected of the EIGHTEENTH century, and a plaque in limestone with the inscription “THIS”.
