Retirement: Mediterranean cities where it is good to age in 2023

While some people fear that retirement will be synonymous with loss of income and social isolation, it is also the time to take advantage of a well-deserved rest. Many are those who take advantage of this key stage in life to make a fresh start. Thus, some are tempted to change town, to live in a quieter place. In 2022, Le Figaro published a ranking of cities where it is good to retire in France. “This ranking is obtained with the customizable criteria defined on: a reasonable price of housing, indifferent proximity to the beach or the mountains, the presence of other retirees and accessibility to health services”, specify our colleagues. Here are the top 10:

Prefer a seaside retreat? This year, Le Figaro* has established a ranking of the 85 French Mediterranean cities where it is good to grow old in 2023. To do this, the national daily has studied the 32 most important criteria for people aged over 60. Security, real estate, shops, health or even leisure… Which coastal town wins the prize? *Methodology: “We have selected all the cities that have direct access (beach and/or port) to the Mediterranean coast, in mainland France, i.e. 85 municipalities located in seven departments: Pyrénées-Orientales, Aude, Hérault , the Gard, the Bouches-du-Rhône, the Var and the Alpes-Maritimes (…) Each municipality is ranked in relation to the others, on the basis of 32 varied criteria (see details below), gathered in 7 themes”.
