This Monday July 17, 2023, Elisabeth Borne was confirmed at Matignon by Emmanuel Macron. However, the Prime Minister must reshuffle her government by the end of the week. If there is still doubt about the presence or not of such and such a minister within it, for François Braun the question no longer arises: the Minister of Health and Prevention will probably be replaced by the end of the week.

Emergency doctor, François Braun was president of SAMU – Urgences de France, the first union of emergency doctors in France, from 2014 to 2022. The union served as a real springboard for him to enter politics. Spotted by Emmanuel Macron, he is responsible in June 2022 for carrying out a “flash mission” on emergencies and unscheduled care. The following month, he became Minister of Health and Prevention.

Having just arrived in politics, the doctor must then take on several sensitive issues: the social security financing bill, the National Council for Refoundation, the problem of medical deserts, the overcrowding of emergency services…

A year after his arrival on avenue de Ségur, the doctor continues to propose measures without the expected changes taking place. He notably declared at the microphone of RTL: “It’s hard to say that for a minister, but I am a little helpless in the face of the [crisis of emergencies].” According to a relative, François Braun “is struggling a lot, but the results are not there, he is overwhelmed”, reports Le Parisien.

Little present in the media space, François Braun was quickly described as “transparent” by several press titles. So, on Wednesday April 12, 2023, the minister reclaimed the criticism by organizing a “dinner of the invisible”. If the repartee is well found, it will surely not be enough to convince Elisabeth Borne to extend her Minister of Health.
