Record profit for the group: Schott uses glass for folding display

According to a further record profit for the characters at the Mainz-based specialty glass manufacturer Schott on growth. To succeed in this example, in the pharmaceutical glass packaging and plastic, and thin glass for smart phones and with strong investment in Europe and Asia, as the company announced on Wednesday in Mainz. In the past fiscal year 2017/18 (up to 30. September 2018) earned the group a Surplus of 207,7 million euros. That was a Plus of around six percent compared to the previous year, for the first time, of the profit of the Mainz exceeded the 200 million mark. The turnover grew by one per cent to 2.08 billion euros. Here, currency effects had a negative impact, adjusted for currency effects, the Revenue at about six percent.

Schott announced in the next three to four years, investing around 300 million euros. Money will flow in the plastic packaging for the pharmaceutical industry specialized site in St. Gallen, Switzerland. For example, for biopharmaceutical products, such packaging would be in high demand. Millions also go into the location in baden-württemberg, Müllheim, the Zerodur-centre at the headquarters in Mainz and the increasingly important Asian market. So an Indian plant is to be expanded, among other things, to a melting unit; in China, a new plant for pharmaceutical glass.

Foldable glass is an important topic for the future
