Éric Bélanger’s adventure as head coach of the Drummondville Voltigeurs is already over.

According to what the organization writes in its press release published Friday afternoon, the decision was made “by mutual agreement” between Bélanger and the director general, Yanick Lemay.

Bélanger joined the Voltigeurs last November, after causing a surprise when he left the Trois-Rivières Lions of the ECHL. This change of scenery seemed necessary for the 45-year-old, who had always wanted to “one day” coach in the junior ranks.

At the head of the Voltigeurs, Bélanger will have finally participated in only 45 meetings, including 18 victories and 27 losses. In the playoffs, his team won in four games against the Victoriaville Tigres in the first round, before being swept away by the Sherbrooke Phoenix in the second round.

“The Voltigeurs wish to thank Éric Bélanger for the last months spent in Drummondville and wish him good luck for the rest of his career”, writes the Drummondville club.
