The objective has not changed. And for good reason ! Inflation is not about to take off. Already in May, some supermarket bosses were already worried about seeing it climb to 7% by the end of the year. This was then the case, informs Le Figaro on its site, of Dominique Schelcher, president of the Système U brand. “We are only in the middle of the road”, he estimated at the time. The current forecasts are hardly more engaging, as Planet.fr has already been able to explain. The daily Les Echos, in its Investing section, mentions record inflation at 6.5% over one year in June 2022. Not enough to reassure savers, whose woolen stockings are already eaten away by rising prices.

This being so, observes France Info on its site, it is not only of them that Elisabeth Borne could have thought. The Prime Minister, who was giving her general policy speech on Wednesday July 6, 2022 and preferred not to submit her government to the confidence of Parliament, mentioned several of the measures that could see the light of day very quickly. They concern a range of sectors, ranging from energy to the automobile, with a detour through food or housing.

Most of the measures that the Prime Minister intends to implement will be presented during the Council of Ministers scheduled for Thursday July 7, 2022 at 4 p.m., indicates Ouest-France. This will be focused solely on the issue of purchasing power… and should give rise to the drafting of a law passed during the summer. Some of the planned aid should therefore not see the light of day before… October! This is the case, in any case, of the new workers’ fuel allowance, which will gradually replace the discount at the pump.

Fortunately, other help should arrive sooner…

All in all, continues Ouest-France, ten specific topics should be addressed during the Council of Ministers. All should lead to the establishment of specific nudges.

Thus, Elisabeth Borne provides for the revaluation of scholarships granted to students and an extension of the university restaurant ticket to one euro for beneficiaries, or the freezing of rents using a benchmark index set at 3.5% in July – which will also be accompanied by an equivalent revaluation of the APL.

We must also expect an increase in the value of the index point of 3.5%, which will automatically lead to an increase in the remuneration of civil servants.

But that’s far from everything! Jean Castex’s tariff shield must also be extended, so as to continue to protect French women and men against price increases associated with energy. It will not end before the end of the year 2022.

Also on the tax front, the Prime Minister is planning some changes. Starting with the abolition of the audiovisual license fee, which will no longer have to be paid from the autumn of the current year. This is a shortfall estimated at more than three billion euros for the State and public broadcasters and the promise of 138 euros in savings for the taxpayers concerned.

We must also expect lower contributions for the self-employed, which should allow the gain of 550 euros per year for a remuneration comparable to the Smic, but also a food check of 100 euros (to which are added 50 euros per dependent child) for the most modest households.

Finally, the Council of Ministers will also be an opportunity to discuss the revaluation of basic pensions and social benefits, on which Planet has already had the opportunity to dwell.
