Plane ticket, hotel… What will cost you more this summer?

Will the summer of 2022 be synonymous with a return to normal? After two years marked by the health crisis, the world of tourism expects a lot from this summer season 2022. “Reservations are there, the summer is going to be normal, or even better”, underlines Nicolas Dayot, president of the Federation National Outdoor Hospitality Association (FNHPA) on FranceInfo.

Indeed, many French people will be heading for vacation this year. The “departure rates over the summer are good, we should reach 50% of starters, which is a huge figure” comments Didier Arino, director of the consulting company Protourisme. A rate that represents more than 33 million French people, i.e. one million more than in 2019, despite a rebound in the epidemic and a difficult economic situation.

This year, the health crisis should therefore not be a hindrance for French holidaymakers. On the other hand, many of them should change their plans because of the current economic context.

Between the crisis in Ukraine and the high inflation that affects the whole world, the price of your holidays should increase considerably compared to previous years.

However, “56% of French people are planning a budget identical to last year”. Only 18% say they are ready to spend more, as indicated by an Ifop study carried out for Interhome France.

To respect their budget, many of them have chosen to “leave for a longer period, but less far” to “avoid the multiplication of short stays”, notes the leader of Protourisme, as reported by RMC.
