(Philadelphia) Star quarterback Jalen Hurts signed one of the most lucrative deals in NFL history on Monday after signing a five-year, $255 million contract extension, of which $179.3 million is guaranteed, with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles announced in the morning that “QB1 is here to stay”, without specifying the financial details of the pact.

Hurts was therefore rewarded after having had a dream season, at the end of which he was named a finalist for the title of NFL Most Valuable Player. He notably allowed the Eagles to participate in the Super Bowl, where they eventually lost 38-35 to the Kansas City Chiefs.

“We’re keeping our stalwart at ‘Philly,'” the Eagles tweeted. We have agreed a five-year contract extension with Jalen Hurts which will expire after the 2028 season.”

The 24-year-old star player is expected to pocket 51 million per campaign.

Hurts put on a stellar performance in the Super Bowl, rushing for 304 yards and scoring an airborne touchdown, as well as rushing for 70 yards and three more rushing majors for the Eagles. He also orchestrated a two-point conversion that tied the Eagles in the NFL Championship Game.

The Eagles went 14-1 with Hurts at starting quarterback. He had 3,701 yards through the air, 760 more on the ground and had 35 touchdowns with the Eagles in the regular season.

Hurts also helped the Eagles to be the favorites in the National Conference, before beating the New York Giants in the playoffs and the San Francisco 49ers in the National Championship Game.
