Paul Simon is the Most Recent icon to market his rich catalogue of tunes

NEW YORK — Paul Simon is the most recent icon to market his rich catalogue of tunes.

Sony Music Publishing announced Wednesday that it has obtained Simon’s catalogue, which comprises six decades of songs, from his period at Simon & Garfunkel into his solo career. Financial details of the deal weren’t announced.

Bob Dylan and Shakira lately sold their complete shot, while Stevie Nicks marketed a vast majority of her catalogue and Neil Young marketed 50 percent of his.

Simon has won 16 Grammy awards.

“I am happy to have Sony Music Publishing function as custodian of my tunes for the forthcoming decades. I started my career at Columbia/Sony Records and it seems like a natural extension to be operating together with the Publishing side too,” 79-year-old Simon said in a statement.
