(Montreal) As in Nottwil last weekend, wheelchair athlete Anthony Bouchard enjoyed success at the Paris Grand Prix on Thursday. He was the fastest in the 100m of the T52s thanks to a time of 17.41s, a time synonymous with consistency a few weeks before the Paralympic Games which will be presented in the same city.
“Ideally I would have liked to do better than my 17.26s from two weeks ago in Montreal, but the race went well. I did a great job and the conditions were good! » shared the Quebecer in an interview with Sportcom.
Bouchard beat Colombian Christian Torres (0.62 seconds) and Swiss Beat Boesch (1.20 seconds) on Thursday at Stade Charléty, which hosted the World Championships last year.
On Saturday, Jeannois finished second in the 100m at the Grand Prix in Nottwil, Switzerland, covering the distance in 17.33s. The next day, he took third place at the Daniela Jutzeler Memorial, in 17.34s. His stay in Europe will have confirmed his progress in recent months.
“We managed to prove that the time of 17.26 seconds in Montreal was not a fluke or a unique performance. I am able to repeat similar times race after race,” underlined the one who will participate in the 400m T52 on Friday.
“It gives me confidence for the future! I know that right now, I’m capable of doing around 17.20 or 17.30 seconds. We’ll now be able to assess what I need to work on when I get back and take advantage of the next few weeks to arrive in top shape for the Paralympic Games.”
Remember that the Olympic and Paralympic Trials will take place from June 26 to 30 at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex in Montreal. Although he is in an excellent position to secure his place on the Canadian team, Anthony Bouchard will try to confirm his first Paralympic selection.
