At the age of two, Ellis was diagnosed with a rare tumor. Only expensive treatment in the USA could save his life.
The Ingrey-Smith family’s little son is seriously ill. Ellis was diagnosed with a rare, 12 cm neuroblastoma tumor in his stomach. The family is desperately looking for financial support to finance life-saving treatment for two-year-old Ellis in the USA, as the British “Mirror” reports. The family, which also includes a little girl, lives in Great Britain.
“On Tuesday, July 18, 2023, our world collapsed when we learned that our baby Ellis had a large tumor in his abdomen. I cannot describe the feeling of devastation, horror and shock at that moment. It was a feeling of pure heartbreak and despair. I could barely breathe,” his mother Cloe wrote on GoFundMe.
According to the Mirror, Ellis is being treated with the drug difluoromethylornithine, which doctors say successfully prevents relapses in high-risk patients. However, this therapy is not available in the British NHS and must be privately financed in the US.
The family needs £250,000 (€293,000) for the treatment, according to GoFundMe. So far they have been able to raise around £53,000 in donations, but time is running out. “We only have a window of 60 days after he has completed the treatment for the American drug to take effect,” Cloe told the Mirror.
“I’ve always been a mom, but overnight I became a full-time mom and healthcare provider,” Cloe said, “but I’m also a mom to a little girl who needs me. I will do everything in my power to keep us as a family of four, and I just can’t imagine a future without our little man.”
