On August 23, 2022, the opening dinner of the 15th edition of the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival was held. An evening that brought together several star personalities from the big screen. Actors Dany Boon, Muriel Robin, Michèle Laroque and Line Renaud made the trip.
The latter was also acclaimed during this Festival by Dominique Besnehard, co-creator of this film festival with producer Marie-France Brière. “I’m really moved that Line is here. She was there 15 years ago. She didn’t really know what she was going to do but she said: ‘I’m coming’ and she came. Thank you Line!”, a- he said not without emotion.
In an open letter published in the JDD, Line Renaud had expressed her desire to legalize active assistance in dying. The 94-year-old star then explained: “Why do you want to stay until the end when you know that you are condemned in the short term and that your physical and psychological suffering will be, despite the progress of medicine and the dedication of caregivers, refractory to any therapeutic treatment?” and to continue: “Why endure cruel agony when death can deliver you from a life that is no more than a painful survival without hope of healing?”.
During her visit to the Francophone Film Festival of Angoulême, the magazine leader also confided in her disappearance. “The moment is approaching… I have to think about it, I had a beautiful life, an extraordinary life and it will never be forgotten. Even when I am no longer here…”.
