Back in the 80s. At that time, Renaud was one of the leading faces of the music scene in France. Renowned for his banter and his outspokenness, the singer signs great successes with hits like Marche à l’ombre, Morgane de toi or Mistral Gagnant. His record sales even reach up to 1.4 million copies in France.

If Renaud is distinguished by his music with talent, the singer-songwriter also has an inimitable clothing style. Never without his black leather jacket, his red scarf around his neck and his three-day beard, he is always attached to this image of a young hoodlum who follows him throughout his career.

Even if these setbacks feed the tabloids, Renaud remains one of the artists who still inspires the new generation today. From the recent tribute album La bande à Renaud, published in 2014 by several singing stars (Louane, Nolwenn Leroy, Carla Bruni, Raphaël, etc.), to this exhibition looking back on his career at the Philharmonie de Paris, an unpublished documentary was devoted about his life on June 6, 2021 on TMC.

More recently, on April 10, 2023, the BFM TV channel broadcast in its long format “Ligne Rouge”, a documentary on the singer Renaud in which his relatives confided, like Pierre Tard. “He thinks all day. He also pays for having been a big star, the public… It also creates trouble, the fact of being observed. It can unlock something in the head”, a- he declared.

It must be said that for many years, the singer suffered from several addictions including alcohol. For his part, Mourad Malki said about him: “It’s a mental illness (…) Now he has understood (…) that others do not see what he sees (… ) When this paranoia takes it, we can’t do anything anymore. That’s all in his head”.
