(New York) Erik Karlsson of the Sharks, Cale Makar of the Avalanche and Adam Fox of the Rangers are the finalists for the Norris Trophy, awarded to the NHL’s top defenseman.

Karlsson led league defensemen with a career-high 101 points. He had 25 goals and 76 assists.

He became the sixth in history to top 100 points in a season at his position.

A defender hadn’t been this productive since 1991-92 (Brian Leetch).

A 32-year-old Swede, Karlsson earned the Norris in 2012 and 2015 with the Ottawa Senators.

Last year’s trophy winner, Makar has 17 goals and 66 points in 60 games.

It is in its fourth season and has already been nominated three times.

Fox earned the Norris in 2021. This season he has 12 goals and 72 points in 82 games.

The winner will be announced at the league gala in Nashville on June 26.
