If summer rhymes with holidays, beach and sun, it is also a synonym of heat wave, especially in recent years. Indeed, the summer season is getting hotter from year to year, as evidenced by the month of June 2022 which was marked by an early heat wave episode, unheard of at this stage of the year.

However, the summer season is still far from over, and other similar episodes could well be waiting for us as early as next week. Indeed, as of Sunday, temperatures could rise sharply throughout the territory and a heat wave should overwhelm us. At this stage of the week, however, there will still be no question of a heat wave, which could arise later, starting on Wednesday.

In this regard, two different scenarios have been established. One of them comes from the Global Forecast System (GFS), a tool of the National Weather Service, set up by the United States. This is the most pessimistic since it predicts a wider heat wave area with potentially higher temperatures.

Another model has been designed by the European Center for Weather Forecasts (CEP) and, if it also forecasts scorching temperatures, a smaller part of the territory should be affected.

For the time being, it is difficult to know which of these two organizations has the most probable hypothesis. So it’s best to make sure you’re aware of both scenarios so you can prepare properly.

Here is the list of departments which should experience a heat wave according to forecasts from the CEP and the GFS, relayed by La Chaîne Météo.
