Subaru lifted the veil Wednesday on its third model to receive the Wilderness off-road treatment. Like the Outback wagon and the Forester compact SUV before it, the Crosstrek Wilderness increases its ease off paved roads without losing its essence.

Presenting itself with a slightly increased ground clearance of 15 mm (235 mm) compared to the standard Crosstrek, this new livery which will be offered on the new generation of the model presents itself on a more raw air with its 17-inch rims with different designs. who put on Yokohama Geolandar tires. These are designed to negotiate better with varying levels of grip.

Longer-travel shock absorbers complete the package alongside a presentation that emphasizes various matte plastic moldings, more resistant to rocky assaults. Gold accents also provide an additional degree of differentiation.

Under the hood, this Wilderness version receives the biggest four-cylinder served. With a displacement of 2.5 L, it produces 182 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque. Its CVT gearbox has been revised to take better advantage of the torque available in off-road driving, in concert with an increased final gear ratio of the differential.

Subaru has also added a transmission oil cooler to increase the towing capacity to 1588 kg, which is far superior to the standard 680 kg.

The Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness will be marketed in Canada this fall at a price not yet determined.
