New stadium project | The Titans complete their financial package

(Nashville) The Tennessee Titans have completed their financial package to build the most expensive stadium in the NFL, which they still hope to be able to use starting in 2027.

The Nashville Metropolitan City Council passed by a vote of 26 to 12 in the early hours of Wednesday morning the final review of the bill that will see its athletic department issue $760 million in bonds. This amount is in addition to the 500 million issued in bonds by the State, bringing the portion of the project financed by the public sector to 1.2 billion.

In total, the new Titans stadium is expected to cost $2.1 billion. The team, in partnership with the NFL and a season ticket sales operation, will provide the remaining $840 million. Titans majority owner Amy Adams Strunk wanted to thank everyone involved in their case to ensure the continued existence of the NFL team in Tennessee.

The city council meeting began Tuesday evening with a plenary session reserved for taxpayers to express their views on the proposal to finance the new Titans stadium project by issuing bonds from the city of Nashville. The city council was finally able to vote on the project after six hours of deliberation.

The new stadium will be covered by a glass roof and is expected to have a capacity of around 60,000 seats.

This stadium will allow Nashville and the Titans to bid for the Super Bowl, US College Basketball Championship games, US College Football Championship games, and more. Burke Nihill, the Titans’ president and COO, said they were happy to finally have the chance to host some of America’s biggest sporting events.
