(Los Angeles) Cameroonian Joel Embiid became at 29 the second African in history named best player (MVP) of the regular season in the NBA, after the Nigerian Hakeem Olajuwon consecrated in 1994, the body announced on Tuesday.

The Philadelphia Sixers player succeeds Serbian double title holder Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets) who finished second in the votes, the Greek Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks), crowned in 2019 and 2020, ranking third.
