It just keeps going well for Summer McIntosh at the national trials, presented in Toronto. The 16-year-old prodigy eclipsed another world mark on Saturday night, this time in the 400-meter medley event.

She touched the low wall, stopping the clock at 4:25.87. She broke the previous record by nearly half a second. The mark of 4:26.36 was recorded by Katinka Hosszu in 2016.

Heading into Saturday night, McIntosh’s best result in the event was 4:28.61.

It is therefore a second world record for the Canadian at the Trials. Tuesday evening, she made history in the 400-meter freestyle event.

McIntosh has been wowing the gallery since the start of the competition, at home. In addition to her two world records, she also set junior world records in the 200m medley and 200m butterfly events.
