According to RTL, the management of France Télévisions has decided to put an end to Plus belle la vie because of the drop in audiences. “In 2008, the series brought together nearly 6,400,000 viewers while the audience was 2,500,000 viewers this Wednesday [May 5, 2022]”, indicated the media. The other reason is the “increased competition” from other French soap operas. Indeed, series like Tomorrow belongs to us, Here everything begins or Household scenes now overshadow Plus belle la vie. In 2020, Scenes of Households was also voted “the public’s favorite series” according to an OpinionWay poll carried out for TV Magazine.
