(Montreal) Workers at the Owens Illinois glass manufacturing company in Montreal have just given themselves a strike mandate.
They are 330 employees, members of the Steelworkers union, affiliated with the FTQ, to work in this factory in the Pointe-Saint-Charles district, in Montreal. They make glass containers there.
Union members have just voted 97% in favor of a strike mandate to be called at the appropriate time, the Steelworkers union said on Friday.
Negotiations with the employer are due to resume Monday morning and continue throughout the week.
The issues relate in particular to salaries and the pension plan.
