A 32-year-old man hit by several firearm projectiles and injured in a collision with a vehicle Monday in Montérégie is currently in stable condition, according to authorities. The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is also looking for the suspect’s car in this case.

The victim in his thirties is in critical but stable condition, according to agent Louis-Philippe Ruel, spokesperson for the police force.

The man was targeted by the shooter in the morning at the intersection of Chemin du Canal and Rue Centrale. It was a citizen who witnessed the scene who notified the authorities around 10 a.m. The victim, seriously injured, was in the middle of the street before being transported to hospital. His body bore traces of gunshot wounds, but also injuries caused by a vehicle, confirms Agent Ruel.

No arrests have been reported in this case at this time. Authorities are searching for a red Acura MDX vehicle. This could be the car driven by the alleged shooter at the time of the incident.

“The event does not appear to be linked to organized crime,” the spokesperson added.
