(Toronto) Payment processing company Moneris reported “intermittent network slowness” Saturday afternoon, a day after experiencing a network outage that it said affected customers’ ability to process transactions .

Moneris posted a social media message Saturday saying all systems are operational despite the current issue, but that slow network speeds “may affect transactions.”

The message does not specify how payments may be affected.

The service outage tracking system, Downdetector, shows that Interac and Visa users began reporting problems after 2 p.m., and reports began to subside about an hour later.

The number of reports Downdetector recorded on Saturday represents only a fraction of the high volume that apparently poured in during Friday’s network outage, which the company said was resolved by the afternoon.

Moneris is a joint venture between the Royal Bank of Canada and the Bank of Montreal.
